Please welcome Braelynn!
Is it permissible to refer to a baby as an adorable little
squish bean? You know what? I’m going to step out on a limb and do it. This
little girl is seriously the most adorable little squish bean I have ever met
in my life! She was so soft and cuddly and had the cutest little round cheeks that
were perfectly designed for kissing. She is absolutely irresistible.
Braelynn was very sleepy during our newborn photography session. She just couldn’t keep her eyes open,
and dreamed away peacefully no matter what position I put her in. What a
cooperative baby! I think she must have been having some lovely dreams, too,
because she has the sweetest little half-smile in some of these photos. So
precious!
It was wonderful to have Braelynn and her mom and dad in my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon.
They are such sweet people and it was great to meet them and work with them as
we recorded this special time in their lives. They loved the photos we got! After
a shoot I do a slideshow reveal and ordering session, and usually it’s the mom
who cries as we look through all the beautiful baby pictures, but this time
Braelynn’s daddy was the one crying! It was such a sweet experience to meet
such loving parents. Braelynn is so lucky to be their little girl!
Braelynn’s mama was really looking for clean and classic
feminine touches for this newborn
photography session, so we went with some very soft pinks with peach and
cream undertones. The overall look turned out very feminine without being
overly girly, and the colors give a budding, springtime look to the pictures
that I think is perfect for a new baby girl. We also made liberal use of
flowers, bows, and lace to further that classic feminine look.
I especially like this outfit in the picture below. The peach color is significantly
brighter here, and goes so beautifully with Braelynn’s gorgeous dark hair. I
love the old-fashioned feel of the floral print and lacy trim against her
perfect chubby limbs and glowing skin. Isn’t she a beauty?
Just as we used soft colors for that feminine feel, we also
went with soft textures for the majority of the photos, using blankets and
nubby fabrics to add a little depth. We only used a couple of props during this
session: an old-fashioned baby buggy and an antique scale. Doesn’t Braelynn look
so cute snoozing away in the scale’s weight basket? Ounces and ounces of
cuteness right there!
I had so much fun meeting this amazing family and being the newborn photographer who got to welcome
Braelynn to the world and record some of her earliest days. I hope these
pictures will bring great pleasure to both Braelynn and her parents as she
grows up and they’re able to look back on this precious time. And I hope
they’ve brought great pleasure to you as you’ve scrolled through the pictures
of this adorable girl!
