This precious little girl is Madelyn, and I am so excited to
share her photos with you! I’m very pleased with the way they turned out, and I
think you’ll like them too.
Mom Shelbi brought Madelyn into my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon last month for a session,
along with her other three beautiful children. We had a wonderful time
together! All of Shelbi’s kiddos are absolute angels—so well-behaved! A lot of
times kids this age like to be a little silly, especially when there’s a camera
involved, and when there are multiple siblings they sometimes tend to play off
each other, but there was none of that with this family. They sat perfectly for
the sibling and family photos and were super cooperative with posing and
smiling. That, combined with the fact that they are all amazingly cute and
photogenic, made my job as newborn and
family photographer easy.
Little Madelyn is so gorgeous and a wonderful sleeper. She behaved
just as perfectly as her older brother and sisters, which made our session go
really fast. My average time for a newborn
photography session is about two and a half hours, with two hours being
rock star time. This session? One and a half hours. I can’t even remember the
last time I had such a short session!
It wasn’t just the photography itself that went quickly either.
Madelyn has amazing full lips and beautiful, almost golden skin that made editing
a breeze. Isn’t she just perfect? So adorable—and a glance at her siblings
makes me confident that she’s not going to outgrow any of that cuteness.
Shelbi decided on peach and navy blue for Madelyn’s newborn photography session, with just
a touch of gray and cream here and there, and I love the combination! The peach
keeps it very soft and feminine without feeling overly girly (not to mention
that it goes amazingly well with her skin tone), and the navy blue adds a
deeper note that makes for a bold touch in combination with the peach. It also
allows for a more gender neutral color scheme in certain photos, like the shot
of Madelyn with her siblings, in which big brother probably wouldn’t appreciate
having to conform to a traditional girl’s color palette! And the addition of
gray and cream as very subtle, neutral shades really helped to tie everything
together and keep it from becoming overwhelmingly bright, as you can see in the
collage.
I’m so happy that I was able to be the newborn photographer for this sweet family. They really were a
dream to work with! Madelyn is surrounded by lots of people who absolutely adore
her, and she has some great examples to look up to in her siblings. I can only
imagine all the fun these kids are going to have as they grow up together! They
are clearly already a very happy family, but I wish them even more happiness as
they welcome little Madelyn into their circle!
