Mia and Brent brought their beautiful daughter Zalia in for
her newborn photography session in
early January. She is such a precious little girl and I had a wonderful time
working with her and her family to get these fun and gorgeous baby pictures!
Mia brought quite a few of her own props that she wanted to
incorporate into Zalia’s session, which is always great with me! As a Eugene, Oregon photographer I have lots
of props available and am always collecting more, but it’s fun when people
bring some of their own things. It adds a unique, personal touch that I just
love.
I especially loved the Snow White setup Mia wanted to do!
Such a fun idea, and I think it was a perfect choice for Zalia, because with
her fair skin and lovely dark hair she really does look like an infant Snow
White. We went with the red, blue and yellow colors of Disney’s classic
retelling, and it turned out so bright and pretty. The outfit Mia brought for
Zalia was adorable! We used an earth-toned background to suggest a forest, an
apple (of course), and a bunny rabbit as another nod to Disney. Snow White just
isn’t complete without her woodland friends to keep her company!
It was also nice to be able to use my blue heart background.
This is only my second time using it and I think it’s so darned cute! The
colors worked really well with the Snow White portion of our newborn photography session too, which
was an added bonus.
I don’t know if Mia did this intentionally, but I noticed
that the red and forest themes we used with Zalia hark back to Mia’s maternity photography session, which I did in early November of last year. We did the
session outdoors at Alton Baker park, and the colors remind me a bit of this
session. Again, I don’t know if that was on purpose or not, but I think it was
neat that they tied together so nicely.
Color-wise, we kind of separated this newborn photography session into two parts: one with our lovely
Snow White colors, using white and gray as neutrals, and the other with lots of
soft creams, corals, and blush pinks. Turns out Zalia looks great in both! We
incorporated my moon and stars prop into the latter portion of our session,
along with a crown and some feathery angel wings. They really suit her, don’t
you think?
It was great to see Mia and Brent again—this time with their
daughter—and to spend some time with this great family in my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon.
What an exciting time for them as they embrace this change and welcome sweet
Zalia into their lives! I’m so glad I was able to be a part of it and that our
session went so well. I love all the pictures we got of this beautiful baby
girl, and she was an absolute sweetheart for me.
