I am a little late getting this session posted to the blog. We
did Andrea’s maternity photography
session early February, and her little girl, Felicity, has actually already arrived
and I’ve completed her newborn photographs. But Andrea had to cancel her
maternity ordering session as she was being induced and Felicity was born about
a month early. Before sharing any photos on the blog I wanted to be sure Andrea
had a chance to see them. At long last however, I’m in a position to share
these beautiful maternity photographs with all of you! I hope you enjoy them.
We did the first part of this session outdoors and the last
part in my photography studio in Eugene,
Oregon. It wasn’t really practical to travel to a separate outdoor
location, as that would have cut too much into our studio time, so we did the
first part of our session on my property outside the studio before moving
inside. It’s nice as a Eugene, Oregon
photographer to have a little patch of property where I can easily work a
few outdoor photographs into a session. Eugene is great because there’s always
some green in the great outdoors, no matter what the season! And Andrea and her
family wore some beautiful bright colors that made up for the cold weather and
gray skies of February.
The whole family—Andrea, Shannon, and their little boy,
Jensen—joined in the outdoor photography pictures. I photographed Jensen when
he was a newborn, six months old, and one year old, so it was exciting to see
him again. He has grown and changed so much in some ways, although he’s just as
adorable and as much of a ham as ever! This is such a sweet family, and I was
so glad I had the chance to work with them again. I really enjoyed getting to
know Andrea and Shannon during our sessions with Jensen, and I was excited to
hear about Felicity’s arrival!
Although we had used jewel-tone blues outside, once we got inside
the studio we kept things very minimal: just a couple pieces of furniture as
props, and a clean white background that put all the attention on the
mom-to-be. Andrea wore two of my lace maternity gowns, and we kept the color
scheme a very sleek black and white in keeping with her choice of gowns. A
black and white color scheme also lent itself very well to some silhouette
photos—which are always a great choice for maternity
photography since they show off that beautiful round belly with baby
inside.
It’s so exciting to see this great family growing and
thriving as they welcome another member into their circle! I’ve already gotten
some great pictures with Felicity, which I’m looking forward to sharing with
all of you in the coming weeks. She is as cute as a button and such a sweetheart.
It was a pleasure to see Andrea, Shannon, and Jensen again, and to celebrate
their big news with this maternity
photography session!
