Hahn and John brought their sweet infant son in to my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon
about a month ago to do his newborn
photography session. What a sweetheart! Little Parker was born a few weeks
early and was such an itty bitty guy. He was great for his session though—sleepy
and relaxed—and his mom and dad are obviously doing a wonderful job of taking care
of their precious preemie. He is totally healthy, clearly happy, and getting
bigger and stronger by the day! I hope you enjoy his photos!
Parker’s nursery is done in a black and white safari theme, and although we
decided we didn’t want to go quite that high-contrast in color with his session, we did
think it would be a good idea to go with mostly neutral colors to tie in with
that same theme. Mom also wanted to pull in some navy blue as well, which I
thought was a great choice. There are a lot of different textures in the
fabrics we used, which helped to keep things interesting even with a very basic
color palette—although Parker was really all we needed to keep things
interesting! Sometimes I wonder why I even bother with props and outfits and
color schemes. I mean, seriously, I could look at that face all day!
Mom thought a touch of wheat gold would also work well, so she brought in a super soft stocking caps to bring in just a splash more color. Doesn't Parker look great in it? We also
incorporated the giraffe cap I keep in the studio. Animal hats are one of the
cutest, easiest props I use as a Eugene,
Oregon newborn photographer, and since Parker's nursery has a safari theme it was an obvious choice. Parker looks absolutely
adorable posing as the long-limbed, ever-friendly giraffe.
Parker’s skin had a wonderful, warm tone to it that looks so
great in the photos, and such good features! He has such a precious face, and
looks so contented as he sleeps. You can see that he also had some of that
flaky, peeling baby skin that newborns so often get as their bodies adjust to
the drier, constantly fluctuating environment outside the womb. It doesn’t hurt
his handsomeness one bit though! Everything about this little guy was just
about perfect—especially those tiny fingers and toes! They were so adorable I
just had to get closeups of them. It always amazes me how new little ones can
be so tiny, and yet so perfectly formed—right down to those miniscule
fingernails. What a miracle these little ones are!
I’m so glad my job as a Eugene,
Oregon photographer gave me the chance to be part of Hahn and John’s special
miracle, and I had a wonderful time working with them and their sweet Parker.
They were a total pleasure to be with and I would welcome them back to the
studio in a heartbeat!
