This was my second maternity
photography session with Samantha, and we had a wonderful time! I did her
maternity photos when she was pregnant with her daughter Evelyn. We’ve known
each other for a while now through our work with the Junior League of Eugene (a
local women’s organization). It’s been so much fun to document her family’s
journey since her pregnancy with Evelyn, and I was so excited when I learned
that Samantha and Andrew were welcoming a second child to their home!
We did this maternity photo session at Dorris Ranch—the same
place we did our first shoot! Although in some ways that gave continuity and
reminded me of our previous maternity
photography session together, it had a very different feel this time. When
Samantha was pregnant with Evelyn it was summertime, but this time we were
right in the middle of winter. Brrr! Actually, we got really lucky with the
weather. It was cold, but not raining, and everyone did an amazing job. Evelyn
was a total champ for me! It can be a challenge to do outdoor photography with
little ones when the weather is less than balmy, but Evelyn just smiled the
whole time. She’s always been a happy girl—I remember it was so easy to do her
one-year photos because she was so great at smiling and giggling and working
the camera! She is such a cutie!
Last time Samantha wore the cutest burgundy maternity dress,
and we chose burgundy again for this session. Because of the season though, we
selected a long-sleeved version! This particular dress was very flowy and
elegant, and looked absolutely beautiful on Samantha. This maternity gown is extra
special to me because it was purchased by one of my clients for her own
maternity photos, and after our session she gifted it to me. I have the most amazing clients!
It was such a wonderful gift: not only is it useful to me in my work as a maternity photographer, but it brings
so much pleasure and beauty to other moms.
We wanted this session to have its own unique feel, but we
also decided to do a bit of a throwback by taking a couple of shots that were
similar to our first maternity photographs, like the one of Samantha leaning
back against the weathered wood of the barn, this time with Evelyn in her arms.
It was wonderful to get some pictures of the whole family as well, and to
capture this exciting time as their family is growing.
It’s been such a pleasure to be the Eugene, Oregon photographer for this fantastic family! I’ve loved
having Evelyn in the studio for baby pictures, and can’t wait to meet her new
little sibling. I’m so glad Samantha was brave enough to request an outdoor maternity photography session in
January—the weather cooperated and our photos turned out beautifully!
Congratulations to Samantha and Andrew (and big sister Evelyn)! I can’t wait to
have your whole family in the studio again very soon!
