Parents Darlene and John and big sister Aribella brought new
baby Vicente to my Eugene, Oregon
photography studio last month for newborn photos. He was absolutely
gorgeous! Dark olive skin, big brown eyes, and the cutest fuzz of black hair.
Vicente was much more wakeful than most babies usually are
at this age. He stayed awake the entire time we were doing the family portion
of the session, and also during our wrapped shots on my fur blanket. It was a
great opportunity to capture his expressions and that beautiful little face
with his eyes wide open. He was so curious about everything going on around
him.
As great as it was to get some awake photos, we also wanted
to do some more traditional newborn
photography, with a sleeping baby. There are certain poses and things that
you simply can’t do unless the little one is fast asleep. So, after the first part
of our session, we kept Vicente wrapped cozily and took a little snack break to
fill up his belly. Warm, full, and swaddled is a combination that seldom fails
to put babies to sleep, and I’m happy to say that it worked on this handsome
little guy too! It wasn’t long before his eyelids started to droop. Once he
fell asleep he was knocked out for the rest of the session.
We used lots of whites and creams for Vicente’s newborn photos, but still managed to
get plenty of color and variety in with our outfits and props. A fluffy blue
hat, my moon and stars prop complete with night sky blanket, and a couple of
shots against a navy blue background gave lots of interest to our photo
session.
Vicente was a sweetheart and posed beautifully for me, both
while he was sleeping and while he was awake. He was a super easygoing little fella
and didn’t give me a moment’s trouble. That’s pretty rare in my experience as a
Eugene, Oregon newborn photographer!
Aribella did a great job for me as well. She is such a cutie
pie, and she and her little brother look so much alike! I can especially see
the similarities when I look at their noses and mouths. It’s always an
adjustment for the oldest sibling when their first brother or sister arrives,
but I think Aribella is going to do just great with it.
I love being a Eugene,
Oregon photographer and having the chance to meet so many sweet babies and
their families. Welcoming a new baby is such an exciting time for a family and
I love to be a part of that and to record those memories for them. Family really
is the most important thing in the world, and I’m reminded of that in my job
every day. It was such a pleasure to spend a few hours with Darlene, John,
Aribella, and little Vicente during this newborn
photography session. I am so happy for them and wish them all the best in
their future together!
