Kellyn and Quinn came to visit me in the studio again—this
time for their one-year photos! I can’t believe it has already been a whole
year of photographing these cuties. As a Eugene,
Oregon photographer, it has been such a pleasure to document their growing
up, from the time when they were still just a bump in their mama’s belly to
now! I was a little bit sad thinking this might be my last chance to photograph
them, but luckily for me Mom wanted to schedule an outdoor 18-month baby photography session, so I will get
to see them this summer too.
I have such respect for those who serve their country and
community the way Betty Lou and Shawn do, so I thought that an American flag backdrop
was appropriate for this part of our baby
photography session.
Although I neglected to include any in this blog post, we
did do family photos with the whole gang, including big sister Josie. Quinn and
Kellyn are such happy babies, and I loved getting photos of them giggling and
smiling! (I also love how curly Quinn’s hair has gotten—isn’t it adorable?)
We knew we wanted to do some cake smash photography to celebrate the twins turning a year old.
We decided to hark back to some of our earlier sessions with the color scheme, so
used an aqua background. It went great with our outdoorsy, woodland/fox theme,
which we had planned to match Kellyn and Quinn’s nursery.
Little ones of this age can get a bit possessive, so we
decided it would be best to order two cakes. The baker I use is super talented,
and was happy to get on board with our fox theme. The cakes turned out so cute,
and Quinn’s even had a pink bow so we could easily differentiate it from her
brother’s.
They had the cutest outfits for the cake smash portion of
our photo session: Kellyn in his little suspenders and tie, and Quinn in her
ballet skirt and string of pearls. Kellyn managed to keep his clothes on the
whole time, but with all the excitement Quinn decided clothes were an encumbrance
she could live without. The pearls went first, and soon she was sitting there
in nothing but her diaper. She seemed much happier that way. It’s so much
easier to get frosting all over yourself when clothing is out of the picture!
It was great to see this sweet family again for another
successful photo shoot. I’ve loved being their baby photographer over this past year, and I’m so glad we can get
together again in a few months!
