It was so fun to see this great family again! You may
remember them from the Father’s Day
family photography session I did with them back in June. We got some great
pictures, so if you missed them, be sure to check them out here. We went
to one of the covered bridges in southern Oregon and had lots of fun
incorporating their passion for motorcycles into the photos.
This time around, Christina, Jesse, and their two children Lily
and Theo came into my photography studio
in Eugene, Oregon for a combination session of holiday family photographs with
everybody and first birthday cake smash photos with just Theo.
Theo was still just a baby during my last session with this
family, so it was fun to see how much he’s grown! He is still just a baby, but
he’s changed a ton since I last saw him He is a sweet little guy who had lots
of fun smashing his lovely blue birthday cake and smearing frosting all over
himself! It’s probably a good thing that we decided to skip the shirt on the baby’s first birthday photography
portion of the session—although I do love that little plaid bow tie!
We didn’t make any attempt to blend the color schemes of the
family pictures and the baby pictures. I knew I would be putting them together as
separate collages, and since they are such different types of photography with
totally different moods there didn’t seem to be much point in trying to make
them look the same. We went with a bright, celebratory, and all-American theme
of red, white, and blue for Theo’s birthday cake smash, with the necessary
balloons, of course. It’s a party, right?
Theo has some fantastic facial expressions! I loved trying
to capture them all as he dug into his birthday cake. It was so funny watching
him try to figure out what all this sticky stuff was, and eventually he decided
the only way to know for sure was to dive right into it—so he crawled right
over the top of his cake and smeared blue icing all over his belly! Such a cute
fella!
We also had tons of fun with the Christmas family photography part of the session. We used lots of plaid so our pictures have kind of a country Christmas
feel to them—especially when we added in an antique push tractor for Lily and
Theo to ride! Christina found that particular prop and brought it to the studio
for us to use, and I thought it was such a great touch. Lily looks very
confident behind the wheel, and Theo is clearly enjoying himself in the back!
Maybe I’ll have to buy a little tractor for the studio. 😊
It was great to be the baby
and family photographer for this family again. The kiddos kept us laughing
with their antics and we had a wonderful time celebrating Theo’s birthday and getting
ready for the Christmas festivities!
