It was wonderful to have this family in my Eugene, Oregon photography studio again—this
time with their second little one! Samantha, Andrew, and Evelyn came in towards
the middle of last month with new baby Theo for a newborn session. What a
cutie!
It’s hard to believe that a year and a half has already gone
by since I was doing a newborn photography
session for big sister Evelyn. (Be sure to check out those photos if you missed
them—Evelyn was just as cute a newborn as baby Theo is!) I also did Samantha’s maternity session back in January, and I feel like Evelyn has grown and changed
a lot even since then.
Evelyn did an amazing job posing for photos. She actually
surprised all of us, including mom and dad, with how well she did! Usually
kiddos under two are a little hard to pose, especially with newborns, but Evelyn
was perfect. She’s a great listener and we were able to get the cutest shots of
big sister and new little brother together. Older siblings aren’t always
thrilled when a baby comes along to upstage them, especially when big brother
or sister is still very young themselves, as in this case. But it’s pretty
obvious that Evelyn is totally in love with Theo and is so excited to have this
little guy in the family.
Theo was also great for me during his newborn photography session. He was very sleepy and contented, and
is absolutely adorable. I’m excited to watch his personality blossom as he
grows!
I love the colors Andrew and Samantha chose for their little
boy’s newborn photos. Whites and grays kept our family and sibling shots very
neutral and clean-feeling. They were also perfect for combining with some black
and white photography, which I did for our collage. For the baby photography portion of our
session, where Theo was the star of the show, we used browns and greens. It gave
our pictures a woodland feel even without incorporating any props. Theo also
has the slightest tinge of red in his hair, and red and green tend to
complement each other really well.
I love being the Eugene,
Oregon photographer for this sweet family. We’ve known each other for quite
a while now through a local women’s organization that Samantha and I were both a
part of, as well as through school (Samantha was my daughter’s preschool teacher).
It has been a joy to watch their family grow. I truly look forward to reconnecting
with them in the studio every few months for updated photos as their family circle
widens. What a privilege to capture those special moments and memories!
Congratulations to Andrew and Samantha on the birth of this second
sweet little one! I’m so excited for them and the amazing times they’ll have
together. Family is such an adventure—and I feel tremendously lucky to be a small
part of my clients’ journey through my work as a newborn and family
photographer.
